Forest Lodge Orchard and EECA: Pioneering a 100% Electric Cherry Orchard
We're thrilled to share how our partnership with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) has revolutionised our cherry farm. Thanks to EECA's support, we've introduced our driver-optional Monarch electric tractor and electric frost-fighting fans, both firsts in New Zealand.
These innovations have not only improved our farm but also showcase the potential for a sustainable farming future to other Kiwi farmers. Our use of these cutting-edge technologies shows that it's possible to maintain high productivity while significantly reducing our carbon footprint. We hope to inspire other farmers across New Zealand to embrace sustainable methods and work together to create a greener and more sustainable future for agriculture.
About EECA
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) is a New Zealand government agency dedicated to promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy, and reducing carbon emissions. EECA supports businesses and organisations committed to adopting sustainable energy practices.
Our Partnership with EECA
Our partnership with EECA has been a game-changer. With their help, we got our hands on the amazing Monarch electric tractor and electric frost-fighting fans imported from South Africa. The Monarch tractor, which can be operated without a driver, has made our work easier and eliminated the need for diesel in our tractor operations. The electric frost-fighting fans are a fantastic addition, protecting our cherries from frost without the noise and pollution of traditional methods.
Thanks to these innovations, we're proud to produce Cromwell cherries in a more sustainable way and showcase the future of electric farming in New Zealand. Our journey with EECA helps us lead the way and guide the agricultural community toward a sustainable and lower-emission future.
